SUMMARY:4th of July Parade - Peachtree City
DESCRIPTION:Participant Details\nParade Route\nALL participants must be in place no later than 7:30 AM. ALL late arrivals will be moved to the end of the parade lineup. Absolutely NO EXCEPTIONS will be made; please plan accordingly.\nThe parade begins at Village on the Green\, just north of the Braelinn Golf Course\, on Peachtree Parkway at 9 AM. The parade will travel north on the Parkway\, cross over Crosstown Road and proceed north. It will turn left on McIntosh Trail and left again into the parking lot of the McIntosh Trail Recreation Complex. The route is approximately 2 miles. Anyone walking the route (spotters\, marching band members\, etc.) must be physically capable of walking two miles without stopping. \nJudging\nParade judging begins promptly at 8 AM. Any participant who is still in the process of decorating or whose entry is incomplete will be bypassed. Winners will be given a sign announcing their selection before the parade begins and will be invited to a City Council Meeting to receive their trophy. \nGiveaways\nTossing candy is permitted; however\, please make sure your giveaways are soft-tossed OFF the street\, so that spectators do not enter the parade route to retrieve candy.\nPencils\, pens\, sports bottles\, lollipops\, sharp objects\, water balloons\, fruit or any item which may present a hazard are not allowed.\nParade participants are not permitted to walk through the crowd of spectators to distribute giveaways as this causes a dangerous gap in the parade.\nParade participants are not allowed to squirt water guns\, spray silly string\, or throw confetti. \n  \nPreventing Gaps\nPlease be aware of the dangers of gaps in the parade! Small children and other spectators have been known to enter the street during a gap\, believing that the parade is over\, and this places them directly in the path of oncoming parade vehicles. For this reason\, the following rules MUST be observed: \nCampaigning is NOT permitted.\nParticipants are not allowed to perform demonstrations that require stopping (such as dance routines\, cheerleading routines\, bicycle figure eights\, dribbling balls\, sword fights\, etc.).\nMusic is allowed and encouraged\, but STOPPING TO PERFORM IS NOT! \nOther Safety Policies\nSpotters are needed to walk on each side of larger entries. The purpose of a spotter is to keep the crowds safely away from the parade vehicle\, not to distribute promotional material.\nAll floats or trucks carrying riders ARE REQUIRED to have side rails at least 36” high around riders and must have hand holds for standing participants.\nParticipants are not permitted to exit and re-enter a float\, or any vehicle\, once the parade has started. \nSafety is our number one priority.\nPLEASE DO YOUR PART TO KEEP ALL SPECTATORS\, PARTICIPANTS\, STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS SAFE!\nAdditional Information:\nThe primary applicant for each parade entry is responsible for ensuring that all participants in their group follow the parade rules.\nThe parade is a rain or shine event. However\, if public safety officials determine that weather conditions are unsafe for the parade\, the announcement will be made on the following Facebook pages: City Government of Peachtree City and Peachtree City Police Department and Peachtree City Fire Rescue. \nDetailed staging information and entry numbers will be EMAILED to each participant no later than June 27. For any participant without internet access\, printed copies of the same information will also be available to pick up at the Kedron Fieldhouse. \nFailure to follow the parade rules may result in being banned from participation in future PTC parades
