The First Amendment to the Constitution protects the freedom of speech not only for those who may wish to express censure but also for those who wish to show praise. There are many Americans that express their freedom of speech and their support for the United States every day through the display of the American Flag. However, there is a proper protocol that demonstrates respect for our heritage, customs, and values. The Marquis de Lafayette Chapter wants to recognize individuals and institutions that properly display the American Flag with a Flag Certificate to say “Thank you for being a loyal patriotic citizen.”
