One of the primary objectives of the SAR is to bring attention to the many Revolutionary War battles and the significance each one played in the struggle for Independence. Although we think of other colonies as playing a more prominent military role, the SAR documents 159 battles or skirmishes fought in Georgia between May of 1775 and December of 1782. Four of the more memorable Georgia events are:
Frederica Naval Action near St. Simons Island (19 Apr 1778)
Battle of Fort Morris near Sanbury, GA (26 Nov – 1 Dec 1778)
Battle of Kettle Creek near Washington, GA (14 Feb 1779)
Siege of Savannah (16 Sep – 18 Oct 1779)
